CINEMATOGRAPHY

When you hire a cinematographer you need a person who will work with the team to accomplish your goals. Projects are most successful when a crew of individually talented people can each contribute while maintaining the director's vision. I pride myself on this ability and welcome every project as an experience to grow. As a cinematographer, I am experienced in composition, camera operation, lighting, conducting interviews, audio, and handheld gimbal operation. Take a look at the films below for examples of my work as a cinematographer.

HYPOCRITE | JAMIE ANDERSON

Would you have the courage to call yourself a hypocrite in front of the entire world? Jamie and I created this project for the 2018 Winter Olympics and I have been inspired by her courage. This project would not have been possible without a team of talented and generous professionals who contributed.

BOOK OF JOHN J

Red bull TV contracted this film series about professional snowboarder John Jackson. Working with the director Tim Manning was an honor and I learned many valuable lessons. Our goal was to tell a deeper story than the classic action sports films and inspire our audience. You can watch all of season 1 here.

POWDER HOUNDS

"Hey Lane, do you want to work with motocross legends in the Idaho and Canadian backcountry?" YES PLEASE. Some jobs are just plain fun. Thanks to the Stellar Media crew for including me in this shoot. (Full series available here)

SILVER & LIGHT

Storytelling is what I enjoy about filmmaking the most. This short documentary film instantly went viral and has 1.6 million views to date. I created a documentary series with the artist from this film which received countless press opportunities and a total of four Vimeo Staff Pick awards. (The additional films can be seen here)

AMERICAN DREAM

This film Series is a good example of what can be done with limited resources. We self-financed these projects and used them to publicize the art.

DEATH DO US PART

Sometimes you have to be flexible and work with what you have. We stumbled upon this graveyard and were able to tie it into our story in an interesting and compelling way.

WHEN DREAMS COLLIDE

This film is special to me in that it represents the struggles and rewards of success. Life isn't always easy and working in a creative field requires perseverance. My goal for this project was to capture that struggle through other peoples voices.

MADISON

Filmmaking is so fun in that it can give a voice to unexpected stories. If you met Madison you might not know that there is a deeper story to be told by her.

ALASKA SNOWBOARD GUIDES

Occasionally a client comes to me with a problem. In this case, it was; "We have a bunch of beautiful footage and are not sure what to do with it?" I helped define the vision of this film and shot some additional visuals to complete the project. (Footage courtesy of Sean Aaron)

STANCRAFT BOAT COMPANY

Sometimes you only have a short amount of time to accomplish your goals. Due to delivery schedules, we only had a two-hour window with this beautiful handcrafted boat. This film shows what can be done in a short amount of time.

MOTOTRAX | RIDE ALL YEAR LONG

What is the point of filmmaking? I believe it's a means of communicating emotion and the possibilities are endless. MOTOTRAX creates an incredible product but needed content to share their vision with the market.

CHILDREN'S VILLAGE

Working with Discovery Land Company Foundation has been an honor and deeply fulfilling. In this project we had one interesting limitation; we had to keep the identities of the children anonymous. This required flexibility and imagination while shooting and editing.

SIERRA AT TAHOE SKI PATROL

I believe connecting emotionally is the purpose of filmmaking and if you look for the story it will always present itself. Everyone has a story to tell, it's simply a matter of the patience to find the truth.
